Our camp is located on the campus of the University of Bath in the county of Somerset in the west of England. The city of Bath is famous for its Roman baths and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site a long time ago. Our language camp offers an ideal combination of a quiet campus with excellent leisure and sports facilities and the city's cultural highlights and shopping opportunities. We create the ideal conditions for improving your English skills during your stay and making friends from different countries in an international environment!
The University of Bath is gracefully situated on the hills of the beautiful historic city, the centre of which is only a twenty-minute walk away. The university campus forms a small community with numerous sports facilities, green spaces and an idyllic lake with a sunbathing lawn. The "Parade" is the centrepiece of the campus and a popular meeting place during breaks and in the evenings. Here you will find a small supermarket as well as cosy cafés and lounges where you can relax after an eventful day.
The participants share accommodation with our carers in small, adjoining houses. Each house has 8 to 15 single rooms spread over several floors. They also each have their own common room with a kitchenette, toilets and showers on each floor.
Three meals are served daily at our camp. Vegetarian, gluten-free or lactose-free meals and dishes without pork are also prepared with advance notice. A varied breakfast buffet is offered. At lunchtime and in the evening there are wholesome hot meals, plus a salad buffet and changing desserts. Water and fresh fruit are available between meals.
Leisure activities
The University of Bath offers first-class sports facilities, including a sports centre with an Olympic-size swimming pool, sports hall, tennis courts and beach volleyball courts. As well as team-building activities and survival skills sessions, we also organise mini-Olympics, arts and crafts, dance and theatre. All leisure activities are held in English. This is to ensure that participants can use their new language skills outside of the classroom. The evenings are also organised in a variety of ways. There are campfires, barbecues, discos, talent shows and sports tournaments.
Excursions
Every week we offer full-day excursions, for example to the medieval university town of Oxford. Of course, a visit to London is also on the programme! Our day there begins with the famous Tower Bridge, followed by a boat trip on the Thames to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. We explore the government district with stops at Downing Street and the Horse Guards before arriving at Buckingham Palace. You can then go shopping in Covent Garden and Carnaby Street. The visit to London is rounded off with a picnic in Hyde Park. With each camp pass, we will explore the beautiful city of Bath and visit the old Roman pump house with its unique hot springs. Afterwards, there is plenty of time for a shopping spree through the historic city centre. With its many students, it also offers numerous trendy shops.
English Classic
In our Classic courses, language skills are improved in a fun and practical way. We use interesting and age-appropriate topics and methods that are especially suitable for the holiday season. We emphasise the importance of internalising vocabulary through daily use outside the classroom. In this way, we want to prevent dull memorisation. Our dedicated English-speaking teamers are in constant contact to ensure correct pronunciation and to inspire young people to speak English. They are experts in ensuring that the youngsters return to school after the holidays feeling empowered and motivated.
English TOEFL®
In addition to the English Classic course, we also offer the two-week TOEFL® course. The Test of English as a Foreign Language is the most widely accepted language test for school and academic English worldwide. If the course is successfully completed and the exam is passed, participants receive a certificate documenting their language skills in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The TOEFL course comprises an additional 10 lessons in preparation for the exam on top of the regular 40 English lessons. The focus of the course is on grammar, text processing and listening comprehension. We prepare participants for the TOEFL® exam in a relaxed manner with a test run.
